Thank you to the over 50 people who attended the Gibbons/Fernside/High Intersection Improvements Pop-Up Open House last Saturday, and to the 180 people who have filled out the survey so far! The proposal originated as a solution to simplify the intersection and increase pedestrian and bicyclist safety there, as part of the Fernside Blvd Traffic Calming & Bikeways Project.
After receiving community feedback on this draft concept for Gibbons Dr at Fernside Blvd/High St, the project team is planning these next steps:
-
Near-term: The team will not recommend including these changes in the near-term project for Fernside Blvd from Tilden Way to High St that is planned for construction with pavement resurfacing as early as 2026.
-
Long-term: Continue considering it as an addition to the long-term recommended design for the full Fernside Blvd corridor, but only pending further traffic analysis and more public engagement.
If you are new to the Fernside Blvd Traffic Calming & Bikeways Project, we encourage you to peruse the project webpage for key documents and public engagement activities from Phases 1 & 2 of this project. Now in Phase 3, we are conducting public hearings with recommended near-term and long-term design concepts. Your feedback is welcome!
