Important updates about street safety in Alameda:
Please take extra care watching for kids walking and biking tomorrow! On Wednesday, October 9, schools throughout Alameda will be celebrating International Walk & Roll to School Day. Some kids and families will be trying a new, active route for the first time.
Also, if you haven't seen the joyous video from the 2024 Bike Festival last May, we highly recommend it!

Daylight Saving Time ends on November 4. Until then, the sun on the horizon can be extra bright during morning commute hours. If driving, make sure your windshield is clean, reduce your speed (especially around intersections), and, if possible, adjust your travel plans to avoid sun glare. If you really can't see, safely pull over until you can.
People driving with poor visibility have struck and killed two pedestrians in Alameda in the last few years (see this 2023 press release).
Use our new Neighborhood Greenway web map to tell us about your biking and walking safety concerns and needs for all nine of the planned Neighborhood Greenways, especially the three that will be implemented first - the Slow Street segments of Pacific, San Jose/Morton and Versailles. More information is on the Neighborhood Greenways webpage.
Wondering when the Central Avenue Improvements project will start construction, when Clement Ave and the Cross Alameda Trail will be extended from Broadway to Tilden and from Grand to Hibbard, or about the status of other transportation projects?
