The Portola Music Festival is returning to San Francisco's Pier 80 this weekend (Sept 28 & 29) and may cause noise and vibrations across the bay in Alameda.
Here’s what you need to know:
|
- The festival runs from 1-11pm each day, with outdoor amplified sound ending at 10:45pm on Sunday.
- Organizers have taken additional steps to mitigate the impacts felt in Alameda.
- Report noise issues: Call the Portola hotline at 877-324-8151 to report a complaint and enable real-time sound adjustments.
- Save 911 for emergencies. Please don’t call the Alameda Police Department for noise complaints.

These Saildrones do everything from measuring dangerous weather events to saving the whales (from harm by ships and construction).

Construction on Clement Avenue is nearly complete with new all-way stop signs installed this week at the intersections of both Grand and Broadway.
Other updates include new paving, striping, concrete islands and painted bulbouts and red curbs to improve sight distance, a bicycle traffic signal, bioretention basins, and new on-street disabled parking.

At this time of year, sun glare on the horizon is a major safety issue when people are commuting and kids are getting to school. Plan your schedule and route to avoid traveling directly into the sun. Reduce your speed to give yourself more time to react and use your sun visor to block sunlight. And most importantly, if you can't see, stop. |
