Alameda is Recruiting a CivicSpark Fellow - Apply Today!

The City of Alameda is recruiting a CivicSpark Climate Action and Adaptation Fellow for the 2024-2025 service year. The Fellow will work in the Sustainability and Resilience Division on various projects including implementation of the updated Climate Action and Resiliency Plan, assisting in sea level rise adaptation project planning, expanding EV charging and building electrification. “Save the Planet in Your Spare Time” book launch event August 3 at Books Inc.

Join local author and passionate climate activist Joyce Mercado to launch her book “Save the Planet in Your Spare Time – A Climate Protection Handbook for the Busy Person” at Books Inc., 1344 Park Street, Alameda on Saturday August 3 at 3:30 pm. The event will include a book signing and interview by Community Action for a Sustainable Alameda's Ruth Abbe.

If you want to learn how to do more to protect the climate, this book is for you! It chronicles Joyce’s journey to becoming a climate protection leader in Alameda.

Leaders influencing others in their communities to protect the climate, community by community, is an essential element in fighting climate change and you can be an effective part of the solution to the climate crisis. Anyone can be such a leader, even if you have a busy life. We need thousands of leaders like you in communities across the country and the world to solve the climate crisis. Together we can make a difference!
