We know you're excited, and we are, too, to launch the Oakland Alameda Water Shuttle, a free service connecting Jack London Square and Alameda Landing, very soon! Our cute yellow boat, named Woodstock, has been modified to make room for bikes, and we're just waiting on getting the final certification from the U.S. Coast Guard. We'll announce a launch date soon, but meanwhile, read on for updates.
We're looking for 10-12 outgoing and enthusiastic people to walk, bike or scooter with us in the "Woodstock" contingent in Alameda's July 4th parade. You'll get a special T-shirt to wear while you hand out postcards and giveaways. We'll also have signs to carry or hang on bikes. Let us know if you can carry a banner.
You'll need to line up at 9am in eastern Alameda, and be ready to walk/ride/scooter the full 3.3 miles, starting at 10am. We'll have music to make it fun! Interested? Contact the Alameda TMA at info@alamedatma.org by Tuesday, July 2 at 4 p.m.
Here's a glimpse of what our two-year pilot service will look like:
- Free!
- ADA-accessible
- Accommodate bicycles easily
- Run between Alameda Landing (at the Bohol Circle Immigrant Park dock, at the foot of 5th Street, behind Target) and Oakland's Jack London Square public dock (at the foot of Broadway).
- Operate 5 days per week, Wednesdays through Sundays, for about 12 hours per day. Service levels may change later depending on funding and season.
- Leave each dock every 30 minutes, except during required breaks for re-fueling, crew transfers and crew rest breaks.
