Discounts on home solar + storage coming Sept. 1

SunShares makes it simple and more affordable for Bay Area residents to go solar + storage by pooling the buying power and negotiating discounts with pre-vetted installers. This allows all of us to accelerate clean energy adoption and build regional resilience to climate change.

Discounts are available for a limited time in the fall of each year: September 1st to November 15th, 2023. Learn more.


Reservations for multi-family electrification incentives opening Sept. 6

TECH Clean CA

TECH Clean California is offering substantial incentives direct to contractors to support the installation of heat pump technologies in existing single-family and multifamily buildings, including heat pump HVAC systems, water heaters, and electrical panel upgrades. TECH is relaunching the Second Reservation Phase of Multifamily Incentives September 6, 2023. Learn more.

These incentives are available only to contractors enrolled in TECH Clean California. Find a TECH Clean California contractor here.


City offers streamlined permitting for building electrification

Did you know the City of Alameda offers same day web permits for many building electrification projects when you apply before 2pm on regular business days? Web permits are available for the following projects:

  • Residential & commercial EV chargers
  • Electrical service upgrades
  • Heat pump water heaters & furnaces
  • Dryer & range conversations
  • Subpanel upgrades & re-wires

Visit the Permit Center and apply today! Rebates and tax credits are available for many of these projects. Visit www.switchison.org to see what incentives you qualify for.


Save the date: Energy Efficiency Day is Oct 4th

Did you know? Energy efficiency could meet 1/3 of expected power needs by 2030. Save the Date for Energy Efficiency Day on October 4th and learn more about how we can work together to cut energy waste.

How do you save energy? Send a picture to sustainability@alamedaca.gov to be entered in a raffle for cool prizes. The selected picture will be used in the City’s Energy Efficiency Day promotional material and social media.


OKAPI Resuables now in Alameda!

OKAPI

Love cafe coffee but hate waste? OKAPI Reusables has launched a reusable cup network in Alameda! OKAPI is now available at Coffee Cultures, Donut Petit, Julie's Coffee & Tea Garden, The Local, Mosley's and Wescafe!  

OKAPI Reusables is a simple, convenient cup borrowing service that makes it easy to skip disposable cups at your favorite cafes. Borrow, return and repeat by downloading the OKAPI Reusables app.

With a one-time, non-subscription fee of $10, you can borrow and return up to two reusable hot/cold cups at a time as many times as you'd like.  Return cups to any network cafe within two weeks. Look for $1 off any drink during OKAPI's fall promotion at select cafes!
