California to Keep Current Mask Guidelines until June 15

Today the State of California announced it will keep its existing guidance around masks in place until June 15.  Under current State guidance:

  • Outdoors: If you are fully vaccinated, face coverings are not required outdoors except at large events. For everyone else, face coverings are required outdoors unless physical distancing can be maintained.
  • Indoors: Face coverings are required for everyone when outside of one's home, including public transportation, schools, stores, and restaurants when not eating or drinking.

Please click here to view the full guidance, including exemptions.

Currently, Alameda County is in alignment with State mask guidance, and this guidance applies to all businesses in Alameda County, regardless of national corporate mask polices. In addition, businesses must continue to follow all Cal/OSHA guidance to protect workers from COVID-19.

After June 15, the State of California plans to implement the CDC's guidelines around masking to allow fully vaccinated Californians to go without a mask in most indoor settings. At this time, we do not know if Alameda County will implement the CDC/State guidelines on June 15, but will share that information as soon as it becomes available.
