Dear District 1,
As Veterans Day approaches tomorrow, our community is filled with gratitude and reflection. It’s a time to honor the brave individuals who have served our nation with courage and commitment and safeguarded our freedoms. In the spirit of appreciation, I encourage you to take a moment to thank a veteran, attend a local ceremony, or simply reflect on the sacrifices made in service to our country.
I also invite you to explore this week's newsletter, where you'll find many updates and upcoming events for District 1 and Alameda County.
As always, if there is anything that my office can do to assist you regarding County-specific matters, please feel free to reach out at bosdist1@acgov.org.
Sincerely,

David G. Haubert Alameda County Supervisor District 1

Fremont Free Public Wifi
The City of Fremont has launched free public Wi-Fi in the downtown area, marking the first step in a citywide effort to improve digital access. The initiative, part of Fremont’s Fiberoptic Master Plan, is supported by $3 million in federal and state grants secured by Rep. Ro Khanna and Senator Aisha Wahab.
The network, Access Fremont, currently spans the Central Business District and Downtown Event Center, with about 125 access points installed. Future expansions will bring free Wi-Fi to Centerville, Irvington, Mission San Jose, Niles, Warm Springs, and the Ohlone College area.
Creating Memories "Horse Day"
Imagine everything you know being taken away in a single moment – your family, your home, your routines. Even if it’s meant to keep you safe, your world has just turned upside down. It would be natural to feel confused, overwhelmed and alone.
While social workers and foster families provide essential support, youth in foster care need something more – the consistency of a caring adult who will show up and stand by them through the ups and downs.
If you’d like to be a Champion in the life of a youth in foster care, please sign up for an Information Session to learn more about how you can be that consistent, caring adult. https://casaofalamedacounty.org/becoming-a-volunteer/

ively will be hosting a series of free webinars to help community members navigate the Covered California Open Enrollment period, which begins November 1. Each session will include: • An overview of health insurance options • Tips for choosing the right plan • Information on how to access Hively’s free enrollment assistance services
The webinars will take place at 7:00 p.m. on November 4, December 3, and January 8 (each session will cover the same material).
Alameda County CASA
On October 25th our office sponsored a Creating Memories "Horse Day" event at Horizon East Stables in Dublin. Low-income (and single-parent) kids/youth got to spend a day learning how to groom, feed, and ride horses.
Creating Memories is a program within the Tri-Valley Seek and Save nonprofit that helps kids/youth from low income/single parent households participate in activities such as this one that they would otherwise not have access to.
