Dear District 1,
Tomorrow is the 4th of July—marking 249 years since the birth of our nation. As we prepare to celebrate, let’s honor not just the history of that moment, but the ongoing journey toward a more perfect union. Our communities are growing and evolving, and I am extremely grateful to represent you all in District 1 and Alameda County.
Whether you’re enjoying legal fireworks, attending a local event, or simply spending time with loved ones tomorrow, we hope your Independence Day is safe and joyful.
As always, if there is anything that my office can do to assist you regarding County-specific matters, please feel free to reach out at bosdist1@acgov.org.
Sincerely,

David G. Haubert Alameda County Supervisor District 1

Alameda County Fair Sensory Rooms
In these last couple of days of the Alameda County Fair, I want to highlight something extremely special and a great initiative for fair participants.
The Alameda County Fair has partnered with KultureCity to bring sensory accessibility to the forefront—because inclusion should never be an afterthought.
For guests with sensory sensitivities—whether related to autism, PTSD, dementia, or other conditions, this is a calm and welcoming space designed to support regulation and comfort for individuals and families who may need a break from the excitement of the Fair.
Here’s what to know:
- The sensory trailer is open daily from 12 PM to 8 PM
- Located across from the Amador Pavilion (J on the map, blue dot)
- KultureCity Sensory Bags—equipped with Puro Sound Labs noise-canceling headphones, fidget tools, and a visual communication card/feelings thermometer—are available at no cost.
- Sensory bags can be checked out at the SAV (with a driver’s license)
- Additional sensory bags are also available at Guest Services near Building N (Red Zone on map)
Fair volunteers are trained by KultureCity to ensure a respectful, supportive experience for all guests. This space exists because everyone deserves the chance to fully enjoy the Fair—without feeling overwhelmed.
Global AVA June 2025 Summit Recap
Last month, the Livermore Valley had some incredible visitors enjoying the wine country here, all because of a vision I had that came to fruition.
Wine industry leaders from the Global AVA sister wine regions of Texas Hill Country, USA; Baja California, Mexico; Alentejo, Portugal; Dalmatia, Croatia; Badacsony, Hungary; and yours truly the Livermore Valley wine community, convened in-person for their Inaugural Summit. 2.5 years ago, I envisioned forming a network of wine regions all over the globe collaborating to strengthen their industry, and the initiative would be headquartered and led in my district through the Livermore Valley wine region. Through that initiative, I saw an opportunity for an annual in-person gathering of industry leaders and when the opportunity arose to host the inaugural in-person summit, I jumped on it.
For 3.5 days Livermore Valley wine country was the epicenter of an international wine delegation of 10 visitors who joined many local industry leaders in a union to celebrate the global wine community. The group participated in networking activities, professional development seminars, press/media meet and greets, wine tasting at Livermore wineries, and more. They also hosted a consumer tasting event, Sip Around the World, at the Martinelli Center. Their dedication to the industry and their collaborative spirit is unparalleled and I am so glad to have met them and for our continued partnership.

55 hr. Highway Closures On I-680 at the Mission San Jose (SR-238) Overpass in Fremont
Rescheduled to Weekends of July 25 & August 8, 2025
Caltrans will close one direction of Interstate 680 (I-680) at the I-680 and Mission San Jose (SR-238) Separation/Overpass in Fremont for two weekends to perform critical bridge and pavement work. Segment of Southbound I-680 will close the weekend of July 25, 2025, and will close a segment of Northbound I-680 weekend of August 8, 2025.
These 55-hour closures are necessary to safely and efficiently complete key construction activities, including full bridge deck resurfacing and approach slab repairs. This phase of work involves heavy machinery and the resurfacing of the entire bridge deck. This work must be performed without live traffic to ensure worker and motorists safety. Concentrating these operations during weekend closures will help reduce the overall duration and impact of the project.
During these weekend closures, only one direction of travel on I-680 will be closed at a time with detours set in place. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and use alternative routes.
