District 4 Newsletter | June 2025
Welcome from the Supervisor!
As Summer arrives in full-swing, I hope everyone is enjoying the sun and outdoors!
The Alameda County Fair starts on June 13th and ends on July 6th at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton. There are so many activities and things to see for the whole family to enjoy. Be sure to click on the link in the included post for more information on tickets, activities, concerts, and more.
As Pride Month begins, we honor and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community - recognizing the courage, resilience, and contributions of individuals who have paved the way for greater acceptance, visibility, and equality. Pride is not only a time of celebration, but also a reminder of the ongoing work needed to ensure that everyone - regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression - can live openly and safely with dignity and respect. We stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community, affirming our commitment to inclusion, equality, and the right of every person to be who they are without fear of discrimination. Let this month be a time for education, empathy, and action as we continue to build a more just and loving world. Happy Pride!
The Healthy Living Festival will be held on September 25th. This is my annual no-cost event (22 years and counting!) for seniors 55 and over who live in Alameda County. Registration is required and is now open! See the flyer in this newsletter for more info.
I am now the Chair of the Health Committee in Alameda County as I am committed to the health and well-being for all. With federal government changes, it is more important than ever to address the challenges ahead. Please see the article included in this newsletter for more detail, as well as the notice of the June 5th Ad Hoc meeting.
Please feel free to contact any of my offices should you need county-related assistance. My offices are listed at the bottom of this newsletter and my staff is eager to help you.
Enjoy the warmer weather and stay safe!

Joint Health & ACT For All Committee: Addressing Federal Impacts on Health Care
As Chair of the Health Committee and a founding member of the ACT For All Committee, I am committed to ensuring that Alameda County is prepared for the growing challenges facing our health care system—especially as the federal government moves forward with significant budget and policy changes during President Trump’s second term.
This month, I’ve convened a special joint meeting of the Health Committee and the ACT For All Committee to provide a comprehensive overview of how these changes may impact our local communities. The ACT For All Committee was created to respond swiftly to federal threats, and by joining forces with the Health Committee, we’re taking a proactive, unified approach to protect the health and wellness of our residents.
We’ll hear from experts across a wide range of sectors—from hospitals and federally qualified health centers to behavioral health, reproductive care, and gender-affirming services. This includes updates on Medicaid and safety net populations, mental health services, and the continued fight against HIV.
