In a unanimous decision on January 14, 2025, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors approved the sale of its ownership share in the Oakland Coliseum to a local development group. This landmark decision paves the way for a transformative vision of the iconic site. The development group plans to revitalize the Coliseum with a mix of affordable housing, commercial spaces, and upgraded recreational facilities. Supervisor Nate Miley expressed optimism, stating, "This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reimagine the Coliseum site. It’s not just about development—it’s about creating a space that serves our community’s needs while driving economic growth." This move is expected to shape the future of Oakland and benefit the broader Alameda County community.
