District 1 Newsletter | October 24th, 2024
Dear District 1,
I hope that your month of October has been going well and this message finds you in good health. As we approach numerous holidays and celebrations, I wanted to take a moment to extend my warmest wishes for the season ahead. This time of year often brings both reflection and anticipation, and I hope you are able to enjoy it surrounded by friends, family, and community.
As we approach the election season, I want to remind everyone how important it is to exercise your right to vote. Whether you choose to vote by mail or in person, your voice plays a crucial role in shaping the policies that impact our community.
If you're voting in person, you can visit the Alameda County Registrar of Voters website to find a list of voting centers nearby, along with their hours of operation. Your participation truly makes a difference!
I invite you to explore this week's newsletter for some updates on upcoming events and recaps of recent activities.
As always, if there is anything that my office can do to assist you regarding County-specific matters, please feel free to reach out at bosdist1@acgov.org.
Sincerely,
David G. Haubert Alameda County Supervisor District 1
Hosted by Supervisors Haubert (D1) & Márquez (D2)
Resource Parents are in need of your support. I am proud to partner with District 2 Supervisor Elisa Marquez to wrap around these families with more support, resources, and champions. We are reaching out to ask you for your partnership in supporting Foster Families in our community by providing support services.

We are hosting a Foster Family Support Network Town Hall on October 30th in Union City and hope you can join to learn more. Tri-Valley Resource Fair Recap
The recent Stand Down event and Resource Fair was a huge success, providing vital services and support to veterans and members-in-need in our community. Held in partnership with local organizations, the event offered a range of resources, including medical care, housing assistance, employment opportunities, and legal aid.
|
With over 20 organizations participating, the Stand Down event brought together a broad range of services for community members in need, offering access to healthcare, feminine products (thank you to local youth leader Evanka Parekh/returngifts.org for the donations), food, housing assistance, employment resources, and legal aid. The collaborative effort demonstrated our collective commitment to ensuring everyone has access to the resources they need to thrive.
|
We are extremely thankful for all of our partnering organizations that helped us provide these services.

Interns & Volunteers
What have our interns and volunteers been up to?
So far, we have had a very successful intern and volunteer cohort team this Fall. The team has been dedicated to civic engagement, learning about local government, and helping out at events. By helping out with campaigns, assisting with events (like the Stand Down/Resource Fair), and working on their own community projects, their hard work and enthusiasm have made a meaningful impact on both our office and the community.
Here are some pictures of our interns and volunteers hard at work.
2024 Association of Indo-Americans Dussehra Diwali Dhamaka
I am honored and proud to have been a sponsor for this year's AIA Diwali event at the Alameda County Fairgrounds.

This year's Diwali event was a testament to their hard work and passion, bringing together families, friends, and neighbors in a joyous atmosphere filled with cultural performances, delicious food, and meaningful connections. I am grateful for the amazing work this team does in the community, and I look forward to supporting their future initiatives that promote understanding and collaboration among all.
