Alameda County Property Tax News & Announcements - 08/06/2024
Alameda County, California sent this bulletin at 08/06/2024 05:40 PM PDTThis is a reminder that the 2024-2025 Unsecured Property Tax is due on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, because August 31, 2024 is on a Saturday and September 2, 2024 is a legal holiday (RTC 2922).
If not paid by this date, the tax will include a delinquent penalty of 10% and a delinquent cost of $50.00. If not paid by October 31, 2024, an additional 1.5% interest will accrue on the first of each month, starting November 1, 2024.
You can get information about your tax including payment status, submitting a payment by eCheck or credit card or get answers to Frequently Asked Questions at the Alameda County Tax Collector's Web Page or by phone at (510) 272-6800. Please note the payment information on our website is the same information from our agents.
Mail Early! Penalty is charged on all late postmarks. As a reminder we only honor US Post Office postmarks as receipt date. We encourage everyone to pay the property taxes safely using the following non-contact options:
- Mail in your check, postmarked by the United States Postal Services (USPS) on or before September 3, 2024
- Pay online either by eCheck (free of charge) or credit card with a small convenience fee of 2.3% - Tax Payment Web Page
- Pay on the phone with a credit card using the automated system at (510) 272-6800 by selecting option 1 after the greeting and following the prompts. You must use your unsecured account number when making a payment
- Pay through your bank's Bill-Pay service. This must be done well before September 3, 2024 to allow your bank's processing system enough time to process your request and mail the payment to our office; use your unsecured account number to identify your property tax bill
- DO NOT SEND cash payments. Please use a personal check or obtain a cashier's check or money order and mail immediately
- You can also wire your payment electronically (see Wiring Instructions below)
- Use the drop box at the entrance of the building at 1221 Oak St, Oakland CA 94612 which is available to the public Monday to Friday from 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. excluding County holidays. DO NOT DROP OFF CASH PAYMENTS
- Use the mail slot at our Hayward Business License office located at 224 W. Winton Ave, Room 169, Hayward CA 94544 Monday to Friday from 8:30 A.M to 4:30 P.M. excluding County holidays. DO NOT DROP OFF CASH PAYMENTS
Your cancelled check is your receipt. You can also print your property tax statement online with the paid information after it has been processed.
