MHSA Community Input Survey
Alameda County Health Care Services Agency’s Behavioral Health Care Services (ACBH) team encourages Alameda County residents to take a community input survey to shape the local delivery of mental health services and treatment.
The data collected from the online survey, along with a variety of community engagement events will help guide Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) services and programming for the next three years. MHSA, funded through statewide Proposition 63, was passed in 2004 to transform the mental health system, increase services and improve the quality of life for Californians living with mental illness.
As many as 1-in-10 adults in Alameda County have likely experienced severe psychological distress, a rising trend as the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be felt. Alameda County uses MHSA funding to support a comprehensive approach to community-based mental health for residents through a broad continuum of services and supports, including prevention, early intervention, and innovation. Last fiscal year, MHSA funding provided outreach, services and supports to over 140,000 people experiencing mental illness in Alameda County. MHSA also funds infrastructure, technology, and training elements to effectively support an enhanced mental health system.
The survey is available HERE in English, Spanish and Traditional Chinese through January 31, 2023. People and peers with lived experience and their families are key partners in the MHSA development process and are strongly encouraged to participate.

Get Boosted for the Holiday Season!
Alameda County residents can schedule appointments with health care providers and major pharmacies to receive their COVID-19 updated booster vaccinations. Everyone 5+, for Pfizer and 6+ for Moderna, is eligible for updated boosters at least two months after their last dose of COVID-19 vaccine. The updated boosters are "bivalent," meaning they target the original coronavirus strain and the Omicron subvariants.
Everyone is encouraged to stay up to date on their COVID-19 vaccinations. Contact your medical provider or local clinic for an updated booster appointment or book through myturn.ca.gov.
Fight the Flu - Get Vaccinated Now!
The flu is a contagious disease that can cause serious illness. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues into a third flu season, please help avoid strain on Alameda County hospitals by getting your flu shot.
The flu vaccine is recommended for everyone 6 months and older, and it is especially important for pregnant women, children younger than 5, adults 65 and older, and those with chronic medical conditions. People in the same household with someone at high risk can help protect that person from severe flu by getting a flu shot.
Both influenza and COVID-19 vaccines can be administered at the same visit, without regard to timing as recommended by CDC.
Find a flu vaccination site near you.
Information About MPX
MPX — pronounced /m·pox/ — is formerly known as Monkeypox. MPX is a rare disease that is caused by infection with the MPX virus. MPX can cause fever, headache, body aches, swollen lymph nodes, and a rash. The rash typically begins as flat spots that turn into bumps that fill with fluid. Some people develop spots that look like pimples or blisters before having any other symptoms. The bumps eventually crust and fall off as they heal.
The MPX virus is not new, but there is a recent significant increase in reported cases where MPX is not commonly seen, including in the United States, California, and Alameda County.
While it’s good to stay alert about this new local epidemic, the current risk of MPX for the general public is low.
To learn more about prevention, symptoms, accessing the vaccine, and treatment, visit Alameda County's new dedicated MPX website.
