Dear District 3 Community,

The County of Alameda is committed to keeping the public informed as we work together to stop the spread of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

It is an honor to serve you.  Please do not hesitate to contact me with any comments, questions or concerns that you may have regarding the district or Alameda County.

Celebrating a Safe and Healthy Halloween & Día de los Muertos

Many commonly celebrated Halloween and Día de los Muertos activities carry risk for spreading COVID-19. ACHPD encourages community members to limit celebrations to small, outdoor gatherings and implement extra safety measures – especially when everyone is not vaccinated – to help reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19.

As a reminder, costume masks do not provide protection from COVID-19 and, for safety reasons, do not wear Halloween costume masks over a protective cloth mask. If participating in traditional trick-or-treating, wear a face mask or keep your distance from others, and sanitize your hands to help reduce your risk of getting COVID-19.

Volunteers Needed for Free Tax Assistance Program

The Alameda County Social Services Agency (SSA) needs volunteers for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program!

Anyone can volunteer!

SSA will provide IRS-certified training to all volunteers. Training sessions begin in November and include both in-person and online options.

Funding Available for Homelessness Services

The Alameda County Housing and Community Development Department (HCD) has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to fund homelessness services in several geographic areas in Alameda County.

HCD is hosting a mandatory meeting on Monday, November 1, 2021 at 10 AM via Zoom for all applicants to discuss the RFP priorities and eligibility. Applications are due December 3, 2021 at 5 pm and awards will be announced in January 2022.

Alameda County Redistricting Public Input

Every ten years, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors’ district maps have to be redrawn. Redistricting determines which neighborhoods and communities are grouped together into a supervisorial district for purposes of electing a Board of Supervisor member.

The Board of Supervisors is seeking public input on how the Alameda County community wants the Supervisorial districts to be drawn.

For more information on redistricting and how you can get involved, please visit the Alameda County Redistricting 2021 website.
