Sincerely, ![]() Wilma Chan ![]() Weekly Vaccine UpdateOn Friday, October 1, Governor Gavin Newsom announced that California will begin mandating vaccines to receive in-person instruction in both public and private K-12 schools following FDA full approval of the vaccine in their grade span. The COVID-19 vaccine mandate will take effect at the start of the school term following full approval for that age span. Based on current information from the FDA, the State expects the requirement to apply to ages 12-17 (grades 7-12) starting on July 1, 2022. For the latest updates on COVID-19 in Alameda County, please visit the county’s dedicated COVID-19 website. ![]() Alameda County Redistricting Public InputEvery ten years, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors’ district maps have to be redrawn. Redistricting determines which neighborhoods and communities are grouped together into a supervisorial district for purposes of electing a Board of Supervisor member. The Board of Supervisors is seeking public input on how the Alameda County community wants the Supervisorial districts to be drawn. For more information on redistricting and how you can get involved, please visit the Alameda County Redistricting 2021 website. ![]() Alameda County Eviction Moratorium Remains in PlaceLast Thursday, September 30, the State of California’s eviction moratorium expired. While the statewide moratorium has expired, the local Alameda County eviction moratorium is still in effect. Most evictions in Alameda County are still prohibited. Our local eviction moratorium will remain in effect up to 60 days after the end of the Public Health Emergency order. At this time, the Board of Supervisors have not discussed ending the Public Health Emergency order and have not scheduled such a discussion. COVID-19 Rent Relief Resources for Alameda County Residents: Alameda County Housing Secure: Residents in the City of Oakland and the City of Fremont can apply for Emergency Rental Assistance through Keep People Housed. Housing is Key: https://housing.ca.gov/ ![]() Affordable Housing Units Available in San LeandroEden Housing is accepting applications for 30 new affordable rental studio, 1-bedroom, and 2-bedroom units at Loro Landing in San Leandro.
