Alameda County is following CDC guidance on additional does eligibility and administration.

  • Alameda County is only scheduling additional doses for people who are immunocompromised.
  • Currently 3rd doses of vaccine only apply to mRNA vaccines made by Moderna and Pfizer.
  • 3rd doses of vaccines are only recommended for those with immunocompromising conditions or receiving treatments listed by the CDC.
  • Additional dose or booster appointments for the general public will not be made available until after FDA authorization and the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) has issued recommendations.
  • Anticipated eligibly may fall 8 months after 2nd dose administration (e.g., booster eligibility for somebody who received their 2nd dose on April 4th, 2021, would be December 4th 2021).

Alameda County is aligned with the State's current school guidance with the goal to keep children in classrooms safely to the greatest extent possible.

  • When COVID-10 cases are identified in classroom, Alameda County guidance to schools is to make every effort to determine which students are close contacts and avoid unnecessary quarantine of students who are not. If all unvaccinated students in a class are found to be close contacts to a case, or if close contact could not be ruled out, they would be required to quarantine.
  • In other situations, our school School Outbreak team may determine after investigation that placing all students in a classroom in quarantine is necessary and this will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
  • Schools and districts may set specific thresholds for placing an entire class in quarantine if they choose. This approach will be reviewed at least monthly and updated as needed.
