COVID Updates From Health Care Services Agency

Alameda County has reached a milestone with 1 million residents fully vaccinated against COVID-19! More than 70% of eligible residents age 12 and older are fully vaccinated, and more than 84% have received at least one dose. We encourage residents who missed their second dose to call 510-208-4VAX to schedule an appointment, or drop by Alameda County supported Community Points of Dispensing. Individuals can also visit a pharmacy or contact their health care provider.

The CDC has updated its recommendations for masking, and now encourages everyone to mask in public indoor settings, regardless of vaccination status. The California Department of Public Health has also aligned with CDC recommendations, and Alameda County had issued similar recommendation on 7/16. Unvaccinated individuals should mask in all settings.

This week, the State also announced measures to encourage State employees and health care workers to show proof of vaccination or get tested weekly. The new State Health Officer Order covers three categories:

  • Acute Health Care and Long-Term Care Settings
  • High-Risk Congregate Settings, and
  • Other Health Care Settings

The new policy for State workers takes effect August 2 and health care workers and congregate facilities will take effect August 9.

Alameda County is aligned with Cal-OSHA's Emergency Temporary Standards for vaccination, which require employers to document the vaccination status of their employees. We encourage employers to utilize the State's toolkit to educate employees about vaccine. Resources include:

Exercise Your Right to Be Heard!

BOS 2021

Most Tuesdays, the Board of Supervisors holds a Regular Meeting during which the public is allowed to speak to the Board on agenda items representing decisions made about our communities.

While we might not always agree on the best path forward, I am fond of saying that reasonable people will disagree, and that I get some of my best ideas from my constituency base. I am honored to serve on the Board as a County Supervisor and take the ideas, concerns, and feedback of the public very seriously.

Please consider tuning into these meeting and encouraging your family, friends, and neighbors to do the same. We are stronger as a County when we are connected to one another, and engaged with the civic process.

The meeting calendar, including links to the agenda when it is available, can be found here.

The links to the livestream broadcast of the meetings can be found here.
