The City of Dublin has launched a Commercial Rent Relief Grant Program to assist small businesses that have been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The objective of the program is to aid small businesses in their economic recovery by providing rent relief to those small business tenants that are behind in rent payments due to the temporary closures and/or limited-service options since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The program provides a one-time $10,000 grant to up to 100 qualified small business tenants with at least $10,000 in rent arrears, paid directly to the commercial landlord. Applications must be completed by the landlord. Interested small business tenants should contact their landlords to submit an application on their behalf.
Applications are now being accepted through Sunday, August 8, 2021. All applications will be reviewed beginning August 9, 2021; this is not a first-come, first-served program.

On July 20, Fremont City Council approved the program design for Host Site Safe Parking. Locations with a designated Assembly Use, such as faith centers, public or quasi public buildings, may apply for a permit to host persons living in their vehicles between 10 – 24 hours a night. This is one of many available tools to address the homelessness crisis in our City. To continue to support those living in their vehicles, who may need assistance with obtaining critical documents or basic car maintenance, the Human Services Department is starting a Vehicle Repair Fund that accepts community contributions.

The 73 unit-new construction project is for lower income families, with 15 units to serve the homeless and those at risk of being homeless is located at the former City of Fremont Corp yard on Paseo Padre Parkway. The apartment complex will have a community room, computer lab, playground, covered parking, bicycle storage and laundry facility. Development is within walking distance to a transit stop and within close proximity to shopping and the Alameda Creek Trail.

Hope Hospice, a Dublin-based nonprofit organization that serves the Tri-Valley, has launched a new service to help families caring for loved ones living with dementia called the Family Caregiver Respite Program provides 16 hours of free in-home care from participating agencies. Families may reapply monthly, but priority will be given to new applicants.
The program is designed to introduce low- and middle-income family caregivers to the benefits of respite care. Recipients do not need to be registered for Hope Hospice’s service.

COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations are rising across Alameda County, likely due to reopening, changes in mask use, the Delta variant, and varying vaccination rates. Our daily case rate is 6.7 per 100,000 and rising, and we are averaging over 110 cases reported daily. The entire county is affected, and we are seeing the highest rates in our priority neighborhoods including East Oakland, West Oakland, and Ashland Cherryland. Of note:
- Test positivity is 3.8% for our Healthy Places Index (HPI) Quartile 1 neighborhoods and 2% overall.
- Hospitalizations are increasing while testing rates are averaging 4,500 per day.
- Most new Alameda County cases and around region are in unvaccinated residents.
- While post-vaccination cases are being detected and are to be expected, statewide, only 0.05% of vaccinated people have been infected to date.
- There is no evidence of widespread severe disease in vaccinated persons at this time.
- While case rates are still lower than the winter surge, we will likely see a surge at least like the one we experienced last summer.
COVID-19 precautions prevent and stop disease
We continue to remind county residents and our partners of the protections provided by:
- Getting vaccinated.
- Wearing a mask in high risk indoor settings.
- Frequent handwashing for all and stations or hand sanitizer in multiple public settings to support good hand hygiene.
