Oaklandside's COVID Q&A: Find timely information and ask questions!
Safe and reliable COVID-19 vaccines are becoming available in California to more and more people. But it can be difficult to find out where and how to get a shot. Vaccinate CA calls hospitals and pharmacies daily to track their vaccine availability and their processes for getting one. Click on the graphic below to get started!

As we said goodbye to the California's Blueprint for a Safer Economy this week, we lifted Alameda County’s Shelter in Place order and we are fully aligned with the State’s guidance on masking, mega-events, schools and workplaces.
Daily life moving forward may resemble pre-pandemic days in many ways, and vaccinated people can go unmasked in many settings. People who are not vaccinated should continue to mask in indoor settings and, everyone, regardless of vaccination status, will need to wear a mask on public transit, in long term care facilities, shelters, detention facilities, and child and youth congregate settings. Alameda County no longer requires capacity limits, but businesses may require masking or capacity limits on their own. We ask residents to bring a mask when they are out in public in case they’re requested to wear one, and to be considerate of those who choose to wear a mask.
The Alameda County local emergency declaration remains in effect. It is independent of the Health Officer Order and, while COVID-19 restrictions can be relaxed due to rising vaccination rates, the need for emergency response efforts continues for the time being. Please also note that the eviction moratorium ordinance will remain in effect until 60 days after the local health emergency is lifted and share with friends and neighbors who may have concerns. (See FAQ for more information.)
As viral variants continue to circulate, our Public Health team will continue efforts in disease monitoring, mitigation and prevention; testing; vaccinations; reducing health disparities; and ensuring a robust and responsive public health infrastructure.
Over the past seventeen months we’ve navigated many challenges together, and we are grateful for our community's partnership and support. As we move into this new phase of the response, we'll keep you apprised of significant events and look forward to reaching high rates of vaccination and low rates of cases across ALL of our communities.

Want to help shape the next three decades of progress in our Bay Area community?
A 30-year regional vision for transportation, housing, the economy, and the environment was released in late May for public review and comment after more than three years of planning, analysis, and public & stakeholder engagement. Check it out here , and the Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR).
Comments on any of the Draft Plan Bay Area 2050 documents can be given during multiple online workshops and forums, or submitted via the Plan Bay Area website, email, phone, and regular mail. More info can be found here.
Cooling centers are usually senior centers, community centers or libraries that have air conditioning, and are places where the public can go to cool down during a heat wave. Some may also provide other resources for people who are experiencing homelessness or are unsheltered.
A County-wide list will be posted here, with the listings here already established in the Eden Area.
Cooling centers are for everyone, especially those at risk of getting a heat-related illness!
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure - download the Heat & Health flyer (English | Spanish) and the Heat & Health Preparedness Pocket Guide for safety guidance and resources. Available in English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Arabic, and Farsi.

Most Tuesdays, the Board of Supervisors holds a Regular Meeting during which the public is allowed to speak to the Board on items not on the agenda starting at or around 9:30am for the time being. (Please note that the BOS meetings do not start at a set time! More information appears closer to the meeting date and time, but be prepared to wait for it to begin.)
Agenda items in particular represent decisions made about our communities, and while we might not always agree on the best path forward, I am fond of saying that reasonable people will disagree and also that I get some of my best ideas from my constituency base. I am honored to serve on the Board as a County Supervisor and take the ideas, concerns, and feedback of the public very seriously.
Please, consider tuning into these meeting and encouraging your family, friends, and neighbors to do the same. We are stronger as a County when we are connected to one another, and engaged with the civic process.
The meeting calendar, including links to the agenda when it is available, can be found here.
The links to the livestream broadcast of the meetings, including a Zoom link in the event that Granicus is experiencing technical difficulties, can be found here.
