Bay Area Health Officers, including Alameda County, support opening schools for full time in-person instruction for all grades this fall.

  • The lack of in-person learning has disrupted education, weakened the social supports provided by school communities, negatively impacted mental health, and prevented participation in the rituals and shared milestones that tie our communities together. The Bay Area Health Officers urge school administrators, teachers, and parents to work together now to plan for full classrooms for all grades in the fall.

CDPH has updated the Beyond the Blueprint Framework for California’s June 15 reopening.

Beginning June 15, all industry and business sectors listed in the Blueprint Activities and Business Tiers Chart may return to usual operations with no capacity.

Alameda County will hold two virtual Beyond the Blueprint public update meetings to provide the latest industry guidance and answer questions.
o The Community Update will be held June 15 from 6-7:30 pm.
o The Employer Update will be held June 21 from 6-7:30 pm.

vaccination

Vax for the Win is a new multi-faceted program to get more people vaccinated by June 15. The program incentivizes people who still need to get vaccinated, especially those in
hard-to-reach communities, and thanks everyone who has already been vaccinated.

Alameda County reached another milestone with more than 75% of residents age 16+ having received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. We encourage residents to continue wearing masks, maintain social distance, and support family and friends getting vaccinated including individuals 12 to 15 years old who recently became eligible.

Access to Vaccine for Independent Practices (AVIP) will distribute vaccine to pediatric and independent practices in Alameda County.

  • The program will start mid-June with a pediatric providers and small independent practices in high-impact, low vaccination census tracts, with Alameda County providing training for vaccine handling, storage, temperature monitoring, and cold
    chain management.

Alameda County residents can sign up for vaccine appointments online. Registration is available in multiple languages. We also offer a comprehensive list of vaccinating sites in Alameda County and Getting a vaccine in Alameda County in multiple languages.

Paratransit services are available to support vaccine access. This specialized transportation service is available for persons who are unable to independently use regular buses, streetcars, or BART due to a disability or health related condition. We also
offer a printable version of the Paratransit Supporting Vaccine Access tables.

I was able to sponsor the annual South Bay Chinese Service Club Scholarship program. The sponsorship went to Bella Jiang, an American High School class of 2021 graduate, for her leadership with several clubs, events and activities during her high school years. An awards ceremony was held online via zoom, then 2 weeks later students were invited to pick up their awards at the Veterans Park by the court house in Fremont, CA. There were a total of 25 scholarship recipients, all with very impressive applications and plans for their college education.

As fire season is coming, we need to be prepared. Last year was detrimental for many in our state and our county. Please make sure you are keeping track of fires near you, so you can be ready, have a to-go bag for you and your family, and keep your animals inside in case of an emergency. Thank you to our firefighters who fight for us every day, especially when it comes to fire season.
