On May 21, the state released its Beyond the Blueprint Guidance to aid counties across the state as they fully reopen. The state is scheduled to dismantle its Blueprint for Safer Economy tier structure on June 15, which means COVID restrictions will be removed for most sectors.
Other Beyond the Blueprint key changes include:
- Vaccination Verification or Negative Testing: Required for indoor mega (5,000+ attendees) events, and outdoor mega (10,000+ attendees) events
- Capacity Limitations: None
- Physical/Social Distancing: Not required
- Masking: Must align with current state face-covering guidance
- Travel: Must follow CDC recommendations and the state's travel advisory
Additional COVID-19 safety guidance from the state for health care settings, high-risk congregate settings, schools, and other youth-focused settings is expected soon. CalOSHA is also revising its Emergency Temporary Standards, which should be released shortly.
Alameda County will hold two virtual Beyond the Blueprint public update meetings to provide the latest industry guidance and answer questions:
o The Community Update will be held June 15 from 6-7:30 pm. o The Employer Update will be held June 21 from 6-7:30 pm.

We are pleased to announce that over 75 percent of county residents, age 16 and older, have now received at least one dose of the vaccine. And Alameda County was recently ranked 16th in the nation for having the most fully vaccinated residents in a county with 250,000 residents or more. These are major milestones for our county and we are grateful to our staff and community partners for their hard work and dedication to get vaccines to our residents.
Last week, the State announced Vax for the Win a $116.5 million vaccine incentive program. The multi-faceted initiative will reinforce the value of vaccination for all Californians, especially those in communities hardest hit by the pandemic. As we continue focusing on getting more individuals vaccinated, residents and businesses should continue to wear masks, keep their distance and operate under the state’s restrictions for Orange Tier counties per the Blueprint for a Safer Economy, which will remain in place until June 15. Let’s get ready by getting vaccinated with the effective and safe COVD-19 vaccines and masking to protect unvaccinated residents and individuals younger than 12 from COVID-19.

We know masks protect everyone, and the vaccine protects you. We understand residents may not be sure about the vaccine or worried about things they may have heard. The Greater Than COVID videos by Black and Latinx health care workers provide helpful answers to frequently asked questions and myths. There are also Greater Than COVID toolkits and playlists for people to use and share with others. Doctors, nurses, researchers, and promotoras provide facts and dispel misinformation about the COVID-19 vaccines in The Conversation/La Conversacion, an FAQ video series from the Kaiser Family Foundation with the Black Coalition Against COVID and UnidosUS. In late April, I was interviewed by Castro Valley High senior, Hannah Pilgrim, for the Olympian. Hannah conducted an extensive and thoughtful interview which is in keeping with CV High's track record of molding exceptional future leaders. We touched on a wide variety of local and national topics, and I was pleased to be given the opportunity to go in depth on issues affecting our country as well as our community.
Check out my full interview here, as well as excerpts of myself and other sources on these other historic issues:

Castro Valley News gave a wonderful shout out to my local efforts to fight illegal dumping this past week and the foundational role the Alameda County Sheriff's office plays in ending this scourge on our communities.
Education, Eradication, and Enforcement are the tools we need to use in tandem to truly combat this issue - disposing of the RV is one action of many the Sheriff's office has taken on behalf of bringing safety, order, and beauty back to our neighborhoods.
Learn more about my highly collaborative illegal dumping strategy, outlined in the pilot report here and discussed in depth during the 3-day regional conference I hosted this past April. We've made real progress and look forward to expanding the pilot into more areas.

Most Tuesdays, the Board of Supervisors holds a Regular Meeting during which the public is allowed to speak to the Board on items not on the agenda starting at or around 9:30am for the time being. (Please note that the BOS meetings do not start at a set time! More information appears closer to the meeting date and time, but be prepared to wait for it to begin.)
Agenda items in particular represent decisions made about our communities, and while we might not always agree on the best path forward, I am fond of saying that reasonable people will disagree and also that I get some of my best ideas from my constituency base. I am honored to serve on the Board as a County Supervisor and take the ideas, concerns, and feedback of the public very seriously.
Please, consider tuning into these meeting and encouraging your family, friends, and neighbors to do the same. We are stronger as a County when we are connected to one another, and engaged with the civic process.
The meeting calendar, including links to the agenda when it is available, can be found here.
The links to the livestream broadcast of the meetings, including a Zoom link in the event that Granicus is experiencing technical difficulties, can be found here.
