 Safe and reliable COVID-19 vaccines are becoming available in California to more and more people. But it can be difficult to find out where and how to get a shot. Vaccinate CA calls hospitals and pharmacies daily to track their vaccine availability and their processes for getting one. Click on the graphic below to get started!

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC)'s announced that fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear masks in certain indoor settings. However, the state released a statement informing the public that we will continue with our current masking guidance until June 15. After June 15, the state will align with the CDC’s updated masking guidance. The Association of Bay Area Health Officials, representing 12 Bay Area Health Officers, including our Health Officer, strongly supports the state’s masking guidance strategy.
Our COVID metrics continue to improve and we are making great progress with our vaccination efforts. As of May 18, over 1 million residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine. Our focus now is to make the vaccination process, from locating vaccination information to getting fully vaccinated, as easy as possible.
We recently launched a new webpage to support vaccinations for eligible 12 to17-year-olds and will be hosting a popup clinic where youth and their families can get vaccinated together. We will continue to try and reach eligible residents who have yet to get vaccinated.
Thank you to our staff and community partners for helping us get this far in our recovery. Please share these updates with your colleagues and anyone you think might appreciate receiving this information.
As of May 18, more than 1.7 million doses have been administered in Alameda County. On May 19, the Coliseum site passed 500,000 doses administered, marking another important milestone on our journey. Approximately 75 percent of residents age 16+ have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and more than 778,000 (over 59%) of our residents age 16+ are fully vaccinated. Because COVID-19 continues to circulate here and abroad, the best way for residents to protect themselves is to get vaccinated and mask up especially in crowded environments, if you don’t know the vaccination status of those around you.
Where Can I Get Vaccinated?
Residents are encouraged to sign up for a vaccine appointment online. Registration is available in multiple languages. We also have a list of vaccination sites throughout Alameda County. Residents can click here to view Community and Mobile vaccine sites/Points of Dispensing (POD). If we all get fully vaccinated, we can continue to reopen our county and look forward to a great summer. The longer you wait to get vaccinated, the greater the risk of contracting COVID-19 and becoming seriously ill or spreading it to a friend, loved one, or co-worker.

Paratransit services are available to support vaccine access. This specialized transportation service is available for persons who are unable to independently use regular buses, streetcars, or BART due to a disability or health-related condition. We also offer a printable version of the Paratransit Supporting Vaccine Access tables.
I missed my second dose of Pfizer. What should I do?
Anyone who missed their second dose of the Pfizer vaccine can get an appointment at the Coliseum through May 23. Call 510-462-5139, email, or use this link to schedule an appointment.

Most Tuesdays, the Board of Supervisors holds a Regular Meeting during which the public is allowed to speak to the Board on items not on the agenda starting at or around 9:30am for the time being. (Please note that the BOS meetings do not start at a set time! More information appears closer to the meeting date and time, but be prepared to wait for it to begin.)
Agenda items in particular represent decisions made about our communities, and while we might not always agree on the best path forward, I am fond of saying that reasonable people will disagree and also that I get some of my best ideas from my constituency base. I am honored to serve on the Board as a County Supervisor and take the ideas, concerns, and feedback of the public very seriously.
Please, consider tuning into these meeting and encouraging your family, friends, and neighbors to do the same. We are stronger as a County when we are connected to one another, and engaged with the civic process.
