Alameda County Health Order

Alameda County Remains in the Orange Tier

Effective Wednesday, March 31, activities and businesses permitted in the Red Tier per the State’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy resumed operation.

Alameda County must remain in the Orange Tier for at least three weeks before moving into the next, less restrictive color tier even though metrics might warrant.

On June 15, California will fully open its economy if two criteria are met: vaccine supply is sufficient for Californians 16 years and older who wish to be inoculated, and hospitalization rates are stable and low, especially among vaccinated individuals.

VACCINE ELIGABILITY

Alameda County is currently vaccinating:

• All Alameda County residents, ages 16+
• Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are only approved for 18+

OAKLAND COLISEUM SITE CLOSING

The Oakland Coliseum COVID-19 vaccine mega-distribution site will be closing on Saturday, May 23, 2021 as Alameda County shifts to more focused and localized options that meets our community where they are, especially the communities hardest hit by the pandemic. READ MORE...

Don't Know if They're Vaxxed? Stay Masked!

The State of California has issued new guidance for face coverings, aligning with the recent CDC recommendations.

• For fully vaccinated persons, face coverings are not required outdoors except when attending crowded outdoor events, such as live performances, parades, fairs, festivals, sports events, or other similar settings.
• For unvaccinated persons, face coverings are required outdoors any time physical distancing cannot be maintained, including when attending crowded outdoor events, such as live performances, parades, fairs, festivals, sports events, or other similar settings.
• In indoor settings outside of one's home, including public transportation, face coverings continue to be required regardless of vaccination status, except as outlined below.

As defined in the CDPH Fully Vaccinated Persons Guidance, fully vaccinated people can:

• Visit, without wearing masks or physical distancing, with other fully vaccinated people in indoor or outdoor settings; and
• Visit, without wearing masks or physical distancing, with unvaccinated people (including children) from a single household who are at low risk for severe COVID-19 disease in indoor and outdoor settings.

The pandemic is not over. While local disease trends are favorable, it is imperative that we not let up now. Please continue social distancing, washing your hands, and masking in public especially when you don't know if others around you are vaccinated.

The public is invited to submit public comment on the Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services MHSA Annual Plan Update for Fiscal Year 21/22. The comment period opened April 15 and will close on May 17, 2021.

County Survey of Internet Connection

Needs for Older Adults

The Alameda County Council for Age-Friendly Communities is conducting a survey of older adults in the County to ask about their access to the internet, electronic devices and need for education support to use those devices.

This anonymous survey is a way for older adults to make their voices heard, find gaps in access, and help make Alameda County a more age-friendly community. The County hopes to reach as many Alameda County residents who are age 50 or older as possible.

New Exhibition Featuring the
African-American Quilt Guild of Oakland

Alameda County honors and celebrates the African-American Quilt Guild of Oakland (AAQGO) on their 20th Anniversary. The Quilt Guild is an important Oakland-based arts organization focused on the preservation and continuation of the art of quilting and its role in African-American culture. We thank AAQGO for celebrating Black art and artists, spreading joy and stories through their artworks, and for uplifting Alameda County. As part of this celebration, the Alameda County Arts Commission proudly presents an online exhibition featuring artworks from members of the AAQGO.

Founded in 2000, the mission of AAQGO is to preserve and continue the tradition of quilting, to promote fellowship among interested persons in all aspects of quilting, to contribute to the knowledge and appreciation of fine quilting and quilts, and to sponsor and support quilting activities through regular meetings and special events with the community. In the wake of the recent uptick in crimes against the AAPI community, the Alameda County District Attorney's office has set up a hotline to report incidents: If you or anyone you know has been the victim of a hate crime, or if you have witnessed a hate crime, please call the hotline number:

Together We Ride Watch Party

BART has partnered with Alliance for Girls, Betti Ono, Black Girls Brilliance, The Unity Council’s Latinx Mentorship and Achievement (LMA) Program, and a group of Alliance for Girls advocacy member organizations to launch the “Not One More Girl” campaign and twelve point policy advocacy initiative.

Transformative Pathways

Transformative Pathways is an 8-week work readiness and leadership program hosted by Urban Strategies, followed by up to 3-months of job search and placement support through our partners. Participants earn $1,000.00 for completing training, and up to an additional $1,500.00 for completing steps along their Career Action Plan with BACR. While in the program. participants are lent a Chromebook, earn transportation incentives, and will have a chance to pilot a community service project designed in training.

We serve young adults in the Greater Bay Area (Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, and Solano County) who are: 30 years and younger, identify as impacted by the war on drugs; and are interested to re-enter the Bay Area workforce.
