Family Childcare Grant Program for Alameda County

The Alameda County Board of Supervisors has approved additional funding for First 5 Alameda County to offer COVID-19 relief to family child care (FCC) providers through the CARES Act. Small FCCs are eligible for awards up to $5,000 and large FCCs can receive up to $10,000. Informational flyers are available in EnglishSpanish, and Chinese.

Apply by 5:00 pm on Friday, December 4th on the First 5 website.

As an investment in child care, FCC grants will provide critical support for providers that have served on the frontlines of the pandemic supporting working parents and the local economy, yet are struggling to stay afloat. The Center for American Progress estimates that in California, the average cost to operate a family child care during the COVID-19 pandemic increased by 75%, compared to 54% for center-based care. By strengthening FCC businesses/homes, grants will provide support for families and communities, too.
