My staffer Darryl was with Reverend Candi Thornton in East Oakland this week delivering groceries to 2500 food-insecure seniors from the Arsola's House Food Pantry. Thanks to their team for this incredible work, and to OPD for their support.

This week myself and Supervisor Keith Carson joined with community leaders and the public in a virtual town hall to discuss creative ways to raise awareness about CENSUS 2020 in the African American and Latinx communities.
We addressed challenges to census participation such as the digital disconnect, seniors sheltering in place alone, disability, homelessness, low interest, and mistrust of the government. We also discussed next steps and creative ways to get the word out.
It is important that EVERYONE in Alameda County be counted. Let’s rally for one big push to promote Census Self Response! Watch the town hall here!

The survey is available in multiple languages and closes on May 30, 2020. Spread the word to friends, family, members, providers, and any resident of Alameda County.
