Women’s March Oakland 2020
Women’s March Oakland 2020 has a single goal: getting all of us counted in 2020. At this nonpartisan, peaceful event, we will mobilize to raise awareness, volunteer hours and funding to get a complete Census count in Alameda County and make our voices heard at the polls.
In addition to a march through the streets of downtown Oakland, this year’s event will feature our biggest Community Action Fair ever, with entertainment, food, art and a wide range of organizations offering opportunities to make a difference in Alameda County.

Friends of Albany Parks Clean-up & Planting
The Friends of Albany Parks will host a day of service in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Codornices Creek. The Friends of Albany Parks program encourages community members to get involved with the care, maintenance and beautification of Codornices Creek. There will be litter removal and weeding projects, as well as a planting of species native to the East Bay.

When Compassion Hurts
Many helping professionals are exposed daily to the stressful lives and challenges of clients, students, parents, families, and colleagues. "Compassion fatigue" is an indirect and secondary trauma that can develop for service providers as a result of the stressful situations of the people they listen to and counsel. Workshop participants will learn about and discuss compassion fatigue and its components: stress, burnout, secondary traumatization, and vicarious trauma.

Civicorps fosters a supportive environment, where students LEARN, EARN and GROW
As of January 2020, each student can design a schedule that meets their portfolio and academic needs, and aligns with their commitments outside of Civicorps. Students will be allowed to move into paid Job Training upon completion of a baseline of onboarding activities.
Each student can now select from:
- Part-time or full-time academic options
- Morning, afternoon, evening or full day options
- 3-day and 5-day per week options
And remember, we’re now opening our doors every week to new enrollees. Every Tuesday at 10AM, new students can get started on the path to earning a high school diploma. Must be 18-26 years old to enroll.
