Let's #Organize4Power and get educated for the November 2018 Election! Come to the free East Bay Candidate and Voter Education Forum next Thursday, September 20th, from 6:00pm-9:00pm at Merritt College (12500 Campus Drive, Oakland, CA 9619). We will hear from local candidates and see how their plans will potentially impact the Black Community and other communities of color.

Doors open at 5:00pm, Refreshments will be available beforehand and forum begins at 6:00pm.

Grants for Fall Resident‐Led Creative Placemaking Projects in the San Pablo Avenue Corridor & Havenscourt Areas

EBALDC is seeking proposals for creative community projects that bring people together, celebrate local culture,  and improve the streets and public spaces around the San Pablo Avenue Corridor. Up to $1000 grants are available.  

PROJECTS

Project type, schedule, and scope are up to applicants. Examples of past projects have included (but are not limited to) community‐building events, mosaic trashcans, art installations, gardens, a pop‐up library, murals,and more. Grant applicants are responsible for obtaining permission or permits from property owners or governmental agencies as needed. Projects that show evidence of this grant funding contributing to a larger neighborhood effort are preferred.

WHO CAN APPLY

Individuals, community groups, businesses or formal 501c3 organizations may apply. People who live, work, or have strong ties to these geographic areas are preferred.

Swim A Mile for Women with Cancer 
on October 6-7!

It's a fun and fabulous annual event whose swimmers raise money for the wide range of FREE programs and services offered by the Women's Cancer Resource Center.

Hosted by Mills College, it's an all-ages pool party , with food, music and community, and more. Don't think you can swim a mile? Come anyway! You can walk in the shallow end or shorten your distance.
