2016-2017 Youth Leadership Academy Professional Development & Graduation Day
Applications are now OPEN for the Alameda County Youth Leadership Academy!
The Youth Leadership Academy is a free, educational program that enables high school youth to learn about local government while completing a career development and job readiness program alongside their peers.
- The Academy consists of five Saturday morning sessions (8:30am - 12:30pm) that focus on different aspects of County services such as Heath Care, Social Services, Public Protection, the County budget and Careers.
- Each session provides a forum for participants to learn, speak out and be heard about issues that affect youth and their communities.

To be eligible, applicants must be a high school junior or senior at a school within Alameda County, and reside in Alameda County. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis with consideration given to geographic location to ensure representation of all five Board of Supervisors districts.

The Health and Human Resource Education Center seeks Board Members from the community:
The
Health and Human Resource Education Center is located at 19th and San Pablo in
uptown Oakland. HHREC is a stable medium sized non-profit with nine staff.
HHREC works with community artists to hold a bi-annual art contest, provides a
safe space for young people transitioning to adulthood, provides free of charge
Get Fit teams for people with mental health challenges, teaches Black women
deep relaxation and self-care, promotes community based trainings for
organizations and faith communities to better address mental health in
underserved communities. Since 1984 HHREC has promoted health and wellness in
Eastbay communities and neighborhoods. HHREC is currently looking for community
minded folks to join its Board of Directors. The Board of Directors meets
quarterly.

The Board of Supervisors will be on RECESS until Tuesday, September 18, 2018!
AC Transit Service
Changes Effective Sunday, August 12, 2018
Highlights of changes:
- Transbay
lines to San Francisco are moving from the Transbay Temporary Terminal
into the new Salesforce Transit Center! The new center is located one
block from the Transbay Temporary Terminal, bounded by Mission St., Howard
St., Beale St., and 2nd Street.
- As
part of the Transbay Tomorrow project, some other changes are being made
to several Transbay lines, in order to make service more efficient:
-
Some
stops are being consolidated on most Transbay lines, most
Transbay lines will serve Transbay passengers only, and Routing
changes are being made to Lines L and S.
- Line
217 will now serve Warm Springs/South Fremont BART.
Lines 600-699 are restored for the school year,
and additional trips designed to serve schools on several local lines are also
restored.
