CalFresh Awareness
May is CalFresh Awareness Month!
On May 10, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors proclaimed May as CalFresh Awareness month, kicking off a month-long campaign to raise awareness and enrollment outreach. The Alameda County Community Food Bank (ACCFB) and Alameda County Social Services Agency (SSA) have been hard at work reaching out to Alameda County residents and running "super clinics" to make enrolling in CalFresh more accessible. For a complete list of their CalFresh Awareness month activities, click here.
According to a recent California State University (CSU) study, 1 in 4 CSU students are food insecure, and many are eligible for CalFresh. This May, ACCFB and SSA have been increasing outreach at local college and university campuses to help alleviate hunger on-campus, which ultimately helps students succeed.
Check here for CalFresh eligibility requirements and application information.
Congratulations to the Alameda County Community Food Bank for winning the 2016 Feeding America Hunger Hope Award's Food Bank of the Year!
