________ Officer Francisco Magos – December 10, 2024 ________
A shooting in Midtown Tucson from last month has turned fatal. Detectives from TPD’s Shooting Investigations Unit and Homicide Unit are continuing the investigation.
On the morning of November 23, 2024, just after 8:30 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 2600 block of E. 22nd Street for the report of disorderly conduct. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male in distress. Officers quickly found that the male had sustained gunshot trauma. The male, identified as 49-year-old James Anthony Fraccaro, briefly spoke with officers before being transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Responding officers canvassed the area in search of evidence and possible witnesses. The officers were directed to a smoke shop nearby and cordoned off the area. Detectives from the Shooting Investigations Unit and Homicide Unit were briefed on the incident and responded to the scene. Detectives conducted additional interviews and obtained a search warrant for the smoke shop.
The investigation remained ongoing while Mr. Fraccaro received care for his injuries. On Sunday, December 8, TPD was notified that the victim had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. His family was aware of his condition and subsequent passing. Homicide detectives are actively pursuing leads in the case and are asking anyone with information to contact 88-CRIME. Additional updates will be provided as they become available.
