Join Us for Our Final Movies in the Park!
Tucson, we have had a great time bringing our community together for Movies in the Park this fall, and there’s one more movie night to go!
I am excited to invite you, your family, and your neighbors to join us this Saturday, October 24, at CSM Martin R. “Gunny” Barreras Memorial Park for the final installment of our first-ever Ward 5 Movies in the Park series, featuring Disney and Pixar’s Coco!
One Last Movie Night Under the Stars
Saturday, October 24 Gunny Barreras Memorial Park | 5890 S. Campbell Ave. Activities begin at 6 p.m. Movie begins at dusk
Come early and enjoy family-friendly activities before the movie. Food and refreshments will also be available for purchase.
Día de los Muertos Community Altar
In the spirit of Día de los Muertos, we will also have a community altar where we can honor and remember loved ones who are no longer with us. Community members are invited to bring a photo of a deceased loved one to place on the altar during the evening as we come together to celebrate their lives and memories.
Help Us Give Back
As we enjoy our final evening together, we are also continuing our effort to support neighbors in need. If you are able, please bring two cans of non-perishable food items to donate to the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona. Every donation helps support families in our community this holiday season.
Thank You, Ward 5 and Tucson!
When we launched Movies in the Park, my hope was to create another opportunity for our elders, youth, families, and neighbors to come together, enjoy our parks, and make memories as a community.
It has been wonderful seeing our neighbors come out and enjoy these evenings together, and I’m grateful to everyone who has helped make our first Movies in the Park series possible.
A special thank you to Tucson Electric Power (TEP) for sponsoring the series, along with our partners:Tucson Parks and Recreation, Tucson Police Department (TPD), Mini Poderosas, and the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona, and the local food trucks for helping bring these events to Ward 5.
Lastly, I want to hear from you! Tucson Parks and Recreation is looking for your input on the classes and programs you would like to see offered closer to home at the Cherry Avenue Center, El Pueblo Activity and Senior Center, and Santa Rosa Center. Classes under consideration include arts and crafts, ceramics, dance, health and fitness, music, sports, therapeutic programs, and more. Take the short survey and help shape future programming at our recreation centers. The survey closes Saturday, October 31.
Let’s make our final movie night a great one. I hope to see you Saturday at Gunny Barreras Memorial Park!
