COMMUNITY INVITED TO CELEBRATE GRAND REOPENING OF JACOBS PARK - Tucson Mayor Regina Romero, Ward 3 Council Member Kevin Dahl, City Parks Alliance, the National Park Service, and Tucson Parks and Recreation invite the community to celebrate the grand reopening of Jacobs Park and Nicolas P. Ochoa Soccer Complex tomorrow, Oct. 15, at 11:30 a.m., at 3300 N. Fairview Ave. Since July 2021, Tucson Parks and Recreation has worked with the community on a master plan for the 48-acre park, supported by an Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership grant from the National Park Service. The renovation turns Jacobs Park into a multi-generational, climate-resilient destination with a two-field softball complex with lights, pickleball, futsal and volleyball courts, a skate park, a family picnic area, an expanded dog park, new restrooms and ramadas, refurbished sports courts, playground surfacing, pool and splash pad enhancements, green stormwater infrastructure, and a replacement irrigation system. The project was funded by Proposition 407 ($3,960,300), the Land and Water Conservation Fund's Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership program ($2,995,500), City Framework Funds ($1,100,000), impact fees ($800,000), and Storm to Shade funds ($300,000), with design by Norris Design and construction by Sellers and Sons.
