STATEMENT FROM CITY ATTORNEY ON CITY PROSECUTOR INVESTIGATION / ACTIONS TAKEN
Today, City Attorney Roi Lusk notified City leadership that City Prosecutor, Matthew Walker, Attorney IV with the City Prosecutor's Office, has been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation of allegations of possible misconduct involving a probation revocation matter prosecuted by the Pima County Attorney’s Office case against Lane Myers earlier this year. That investigation is independent of the City Attorney's Office.
In Lusk's email to the Manager and the Mayor and Council, he stated, "I understand that the people of Tucson put their trust in my office and expect transparency, integrity, and accountability as we conduct our work in all aspects of municipal law, including criminal law, where we are charged with holding others accountable for their criminal behavior. Therefore, I have taken this action to reassure the community that our office is committed to upholding the rule of law and our ethical duty to ensure justice."
The Tucson Police Department continues to investigate the possible misconduct of Mr. Walker and is in contact with the Pima County Attorney’s Office to ensure that they are provided any and all information related to their case against Mr. Myers. The City Attorney's office will continue to receive updates on the investigation. No further personnel action related to Mr. Walker's position will be taken until the investigation is concluded.
