TRAFFIC ALERT: FULL CLOSURE OF AVIATION PARKWAY STARTS FRIDAY NIGHT - Beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, through 6 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, Aviation Parkway will be closed in both directions between Broadway Boulevard and Golf Links Road. Crews will be conducting concrete work on Aviation Parkway as part of the 22nd Street Bridge Revitalization Project. The temporary closure is necessary to protect both workers and the traveling public. Message boards are out to notify drivers. TUCSON LEADERS VISIT SAN DIEGO TO LEARN ABOUT ADVANCED WATER PURIFICATION (VIDEO) - City of Tucson officials recently visited the Pure Water San Diego facility to learn more about Advanced Water Purification (AWP) and how San Diego is preparing for its future water needs. The visit gave Tucson leaders an opportunity to see the treatment process firsthand, learn from San Diego’s experience, and explore lessons that can help inform the development of Pure Water Tucson. As Tucson plans for the future, Pure Water Tucson is part of the City’s ongoing effort to diversify and strengthen its water resources for generations to come. CITY OF TUCSON INVITES COMMUNITY TO UPCOMING ARROYO CHICO GREENWAY PUBLIC MEETINGS - The City of Tucson's Department of Transportation and Mobility invites the community to two public meetings next month to learn more about the upcoming expansion of the Arroyo Chico Greenway. Community members can meet with City staff, learn about the project, provide feedback, and ask questions. The first meeting will be held tomorrow, Oct. 1, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., at Robison Elementary School, 2745 E. 18th St. Free burritos and bike repair will be available. The Arroyo Chico Greenway Project will create a continuous 3-mile low-stress facility greenway connecting Reid Park to downtown Tucson along the Arroyo Chico and Citation Wash. The project is funded through the voter-approved Proposition 407 Tucson Delivers bond program. Learn more
DONATE CANDY FOR 'BOO BASH' EVENT - Tucson Parks and Recreation is collecting wrapped candy donations for this year's "Boo Bash," and every piece you give helps fill treat bags and keeps the fun going for the kids and families who attend. To help, drop off unopened, individually wrapped candy at any Tucson Parks and Recreation center by Tuesday, Oct. 6. Visit the Parks and Recreation website linked below to find a center near you.
