FATAL BICYCLE COLLISION
NORTH GREASEWOOD ROAD AND WEST IRONWOOD HILL DRIVE

On September 20, 2026, just after 6:00 a.m., officers from Operations Division West responded to North Greasewood Road and West Ironwood Hill Drive for a report of a collision involving a bicyclist. Tucson Fire Department personnel also responded and evaluated the parties involved. The bicyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the involved vehicle, a blue 2024 Ford Escape, was not injured. Traffic detectives were notified and responded to continue the investigation.
Based on roadway evidence and witness interviews, detectives determined the driver of the Ford was attempting to turn left from westbound Ironwood Hill Drive onto southbound Greasewood Road when she struck the bicyclist, identified as 71-year-old Thomas Philip Roussey. Mr. Roussey was traveling eastbound on Ironwood HIll and was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
An officer from the DUI Unit responded to assist with the investigation and determined the driver, identified as 25-year-old Mara Jendro, was not impaired. Jendro was subsequently charged with Causing Serious Physical Injury/Death by a Moving Violation. Mr. Roussey's next of kin was notified and the investigation remains ongoing.
