CITY OF TUCSON INVITES COMMUNITY TO UPCOMING ARROYO CHICO GREENWAY PUBLIC MEETINGS
The City of Tucson Department of Transportation & Mobility invites the community to learn more about the upcoming expansion of the Arroyo Chico Greenway at two public meetings in October. Community members can meet with City staff, learn about the project, provide feedback, and ask questions.

The Arroyo Chico Greenway Project will create a continuous 3-mile low-stress facility greenway connecting Reid Park to downtown Tucson along the Arroyo Chico and Citation Wash. The project is funded through the voter-approved Proposition 407 Tucson Delivers bond program.
Construction of the greenway has taken place in phases over several decades as funding became available. The project will close the remaining gaps between existing segments and strengthen connections to other important walking and biking routes, including the Aviation Bikeway, David Bell Multi-Use Path at Reid Park, Camino Miramonte Bike Boulevard and Treat Avenue Bike Boulevard. Creating a low-stress route for people walking and biking of all ages and abilities.
The Arroyo Chico Greenway currently includes four multi-use path segments: the Broadway Multi-Use Path, Pima County Multi-Use Path, Sabbar Shrine Segment and Winsett Path Segment. The upcoming project will build on these existing investments to create a connected east-west active transportation corridor between downtown and Reid Park.
The City kicked off design of the Arroyo Chico Greenway Project in July 2026. The upcoming public meetings are an opportunity for community members to learn more about the project as design moves forward and speak directly with City staff.
In 2018, Tucson voters approved Proposition 407, a $225 million bond program to improve parks, recreation facilities and pedestrian and bicycle connections throughout the city. The funding supports improvements such as playgrounds, sports fields, pools, splash pads, recreation centers, walking and biking paths, and pedestrian and bicycle safety. The program is being funded from 2020 through 2028 and is overseen by a Bond Oversight Commission.
