As the investigation into the fatal shooting of Mr. Siqueiros and Mr. Capara progressed, homicide detectives confirmed there was no apparent connection between the suspect and the victims and that the suspect died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Throughout the course of the investigation, detectives and officers processed the crime scene, interviewed multiple witnesses and family members, canvassed the neighborhood for video and physical evidence, reviewed video evidence, and served a search warrant. The shell casings found at the scene were submitted to the TPD Crime Laboratory for forensic examination.
Upon service of a search warrant at the suspect’s residence later in the afternoon of August 31, 2026, detectives located several items of indicia and additional evidence to include a note that further indicated he acted alone and that this shooting was a targeted attack motivated by hate toward the LGBTQIA+ community. It was also confirmed that all of the shell casings came from the same firearm, a 9mm handgun, recovered from the scene. Additionally, upon reviewing video footage of the business, it was confirmed the suspect did not attempt to enter the business.
The suspect was not identified as a prohibited possessor and had no prior contacts with the Tucson Police Department prior to this tragedy. It is believed the suspect had just recently arrived in the Tucson area and had only been here for a short period of time.
Members of the Tucson Police Department’s Community Engagement and Outreach Section and the Homicide Unit have made contact with each of the businesses identified on the suspect’s list and continues to work with supporting community organizations to provide support.

On August 31, 2026, at approximately 12:30 a.m., officers from Operations Division West, along with members from the Tucson Fire Department, responded to a business at 1239 North 6th Avenue regarding reports of a shooting. Officers located a total of three adult males with gunshot trauma. Two of the males were pronounced deceased at the scene. The third male, who is believed to be the shooter, was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving at the hospital. He has been identified as 44-year-old Ousman Ceesay. His next of kin has been notified. The two deceased male victims at the scene have been identified as 42-year-old Vincent Anthony Siqueiros, and 33-year-old Cameron Davis Capara. Their next of kins have been notified of their passing. Detectives from the Homicide Unit, the Robbery Assault Unit, and the Crime Scene Unit responded to continue this investigation.
Initial evidence suggests that the suspect confronted the victims in the parking lot of the business. After confronting Mr. Siqueiros and Mr. Capara, the suspect shot them. There is no known active threat to the community. The suspect was in possession of a note with several LGBTQIA+ associated businesses written on it. The Tucson Police Department is currently investigating this homicide as a hate crime. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
Chief of Police Monica Prieto provides the following statement:
“I am deeply saddened that another senseless loss of life has happened in our community. Bias-based crimes are especially heinous and have no place in our community. Our investigators are thoroughly examining the evidence and pursuing all available leads as they work to establish the full circumstances surrounding this tragic incident. At this time, we have no indication that there is any further ongoing threat to the public.
We recognize this incident may cause fear and pain within our community. The Tucson Police Department has dedicated increased police presence around LGBTQIA+ establishments and is coordinating with community organizations to provide support. Tucson is, and always has been, a diverse community where people of different backgrounds, identities and experiences call this city home. We are committed to ensuring every member of our community feels safe, valued and welcomed.”
