City of Tucson | Tucson Water to Hold Ribbon Cutting Event for Completion of the Tucson Airport Remediation Project (TARP) Expansion and New PFAS Treatment Facility

Tucson, Ariz.-- The City of Tucson | Tucson Water will commemorate the completion of the TARP expansion and new PFAS treatment facilities. This shared federal, state, local, and community investment in groundwater remediation and drinking-water protection helps support Tucson’s long-term water resiliency and keep Tucson’s water safe and secure.

Approximately $25 million in federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding, facilitated by Governor Katie Hobbs and administered through the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ), supported the PFAS treatment improvements. The expansion protects a critical local groundwater resource and strengthens Tucson’s locally controlled supply within a diversified water portfolio.

Mayor Regina Romero, City of Tucson officials, and community advisory partners will welcome State of Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs, a U.S. EPA Region 9 Director, and ADEQ officials.
