During the course of the investigation, detectives identified the suspect as 25-year-old Arnolfo Gabriel Valdez. The victim and suspect were acquaintances who had recently experienced a falling-out.
TPD Homicide collaborated with TPD SWAT and Community Response Teams from the Westside and Southside Divisions to locate Mr. Valdez and take him into custody. Police located Mr. Valdez at his residence near East Fort Lowell Road. A search warrant was obtained and executed at the residence, where additional evidence was recovered. Mr. Valdez was transported and booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Complex. He was charged with First-Degree Murder, two counts of Prohibited Possessor, and Drug Possession. He is currently being held on a $1,000,000 bond.

_______Officer James Horton – January 25, 2026_______
On January 23, 2026, at approximately 4:15 p.m., officers from Operations Division West and personnel from the Tucson Fire Department responded to a home in the 2700 block of North Estrella Avenue regarding reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they located an adult male inside the home with apparent gunshot trauma. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Mitchell James Bramhall. His family was notified of his passing. No suspect or suspects were located at the scene. Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Unit responded to continue the investigation.
Interviews with witnesses, in conjunction with evidence and the circumstances involved, determined that the suspect shot into the residence from outside, striking Mr. Bramhall. This investigation is in its early stages and is ongoing. Additional information may be released at a later date as it becomes available.
