6200 BLOCK OF SOUTH CAMPBELL AVENUE
On January 23, 2026, at approximately 6:45 p.m., officers from Operations Division South located a stolen vehicle in the 6200 block of South Campbell Avenue. As uniformed officers contacted the suspects from the stolen vehicle, they fled on foot. As officers caught up to one of the suspects, the suspect produced a firearm which resulted in an officer-involved shooting. Officers immediately rendered first aid, and personnel from the Tucson Fire Department responded and transported the suspect to an area hospital. No officers or other community members were injured in this incident.
The Pima Regional Critical Incident Team, or PRCIT, has been activated to handle the criminal investigation of this incident. The University of Arizona (UAPD) Police Department is the lead investigating agency for this officer-involved shooting. The Tucson Police Department will be conducting a separate, but parallel investigation to determine if any policy violations occurred. As is standard practice in all officer-involved shootings, all findings will be forwarded to the Pima County Attorney’s Office for review once the investigation is complete.
