HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION
4295 EAST 29TH STREET

On January 22, 2026, just after 11:00 p.m., officers from Operations Division Midtown were dispatched to the report of a shooting at a convenience store located at 4295 East 29th Street. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive male with gunshot trauma. Officers immediately began life-saving efforts, but the victim was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene. Police identified the victim as 55-year-old Scott Dwayne Kennedy. His family was notified. Tucson Police Homicide detectives responded to the scene and continued the investigation.
Detectives learned that Mr. Kennedy was an employee of the store and had confronted a male shoplifter before the shooting occurred. The suspect fled from the scene after the shooting and no other injuries were reported. Detectives are actively coordinating with the Operations Division Midtown/Community Response Team to identify and locate the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact 88-CRIME.
