How do you celebrate today’s holiday? Do you take your kids trick-or-treating in your neighborhood, or have fun at a Halloween party? Binge watch old horror movies on cable TV (my personal favorite)? Create a fabulous costume for a night at the downtown clubs? Take the family or a date to the haunted house at Slaughterhouse or Nightfall at Old Tucson? Is your front yard transformed into Transylvania or a graveyard? Do you heat some apple cider on the stove, with extra cloves and cinnamon, to fill the house with the smell of Fall?
My son Brian, dressed as a Blockbuster zombie killed by a late return VHS that had not been rewound, a few years ago.
Whatever you do this time of year, have fun, be safe, and we wish you a Happy Halloween

In getting to know so many neighbors across Ward 3, I am especially grateful when longtime residents share their memories of their neighborhoods. In Miracle Manor, some neighbors still live in their childhood homes and fondly recall what it was like on Halloween night. They remember the excitement of running from house to house collecting candy, always making sure to save time for a visit to Sleepy Hollow, a mobile home park on the southeast side of the neighborhood that spared no expense.
While many neighbors outside the mobile park joined in the fun, some even turning their front yards into haunted houses, Sleepy Hollow was the heart of it all. Resident Lisa Bravo remembers folks there handing out homemade candy, popcorn balls, and candy apples. With many Seniors living in the park at the time, it became a special way for everyone to connect, creating lasting memories and a true sense of community.

If you’re planning to celebrate Halloween this year, take a moment to get to know your neighbors, it might spark the kind of memories that last for generations. Happy Halloween, everyone!
The City Election is on Tuesday. Consult the Pima County Recorder's Office if you still have your ballot, or vote in person on election day.
This morning, community volunteers, STAR Village residents, folks from the Primavera Foundation, and the City's Multi-Disciplinary Outreach Team (MDOT) came together to pick up litter along Grant Rd. and the residential streets in the area around STAR Village. Ward 3 Council Member Kevin Dahl and Ward 6 Council Member Karin Uhlich were present as well as Spiderman.
Community Volunteers, Spiderman help clean Grant Road along with Council Members Karin Uhlich, and Kevin Dahl.
As Steven LaTurco, the Community Services Project Facilitator with Tucson's Environmental Services Department says, "Every piece of trash picked up makes a difference, and every volunteer counts."

Adobe Repair Class
Do you live in an old adobe home? Is it cracking and crumbling? The Vista del Monte Neighborhood Association wants to teach you how to repair it and care for it properly. We’ve recruited an experienced adobe-making teacher for a hands-on class at one of our local 1930s adobe bungalows. We’re still working on the timing and syllabus, but we’re aiming for early 2026.
Right now, we’re just trying to gauge interest. Please take a quick survey to let us know what you want out of adobe classes.

Please share the survey link with anyone you know who lives in an old adobe house, too! Or anyone who just wants to learn about adobe for the fun of it.
