FATAL MOTORCYCLE COLLISION 6500 BLOCK OF EAST TANQUE VERDE ROAD |
On October 10, 2025, around 9:00 p.m., officers from Operations Division East and Tucson Fire responded to the 6500 block of East Tanque Verde Road for the report of a collision involving a motorcyclist. Upon arrival, TFD pronounced the motorcyclist deceased. He was identified as 62-year-old Gregory Lee Campbell. Next of kin was notified. The driver of the other vehicle, a 2007 Dodge Ram, was not injured. TPD’s Traffic Collision Investigation Unit responded to the crash and continued the investigation.
Interviews in conjunction with roadway evidence indicated that the motorcyclist was traveling at high speeds eastbound on Tanque Verde Road. The motorcycle collided with the Dodge Ram which was attempting to make a U-turn from westbound Tanque Verde to eastbound. The 29-year-old female driver of the Ram remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. An officer from the DUI Unit responded to the scene and determined that the driver of the Ram was not impaired at the time of the collision. Any impairment within Mr. Campbell may be determined through medical records. Detectives discovered that the motorcyclist did not have a valid driver’s license or a motorcycle endorsement. Additionally, he was not wearing a helmet.
Mr. Campbell’s speed and failure to yield when making a U-turn by the Ram are the known contributing factors of the collision. No citations or charges were issued, and the investigation remains ongoing.
