Trespassing Leads to Drug, Warrant Arrests
On September 3, 2025, two ODS officers were dispatched to an unwanted persons call at a convenience store in the 800 block of East 22nd Street. They made contact with two adult females on the property, and each had drug paraphernalia in plain view. During a search, female suspect #1 had a white crystalized substance in a container, and female suspect #2 had a white crystalized substance in her jacket pocket. Suspect #1's substance weighed 0.460 grams without packaging. Suspect #2's substance weighed 0.253 grams with packaging. Each tested positive for methamphetamine. Both females had multiple misdemeanor warrants, which were confirmed and served. They were booked into the Pima County Jail for possession of a dangerous drug, drug paraphernalia, and their warrants.
On September 4, 2025, ODS officers were conducting proactive patrol in the area of South 6th Avenue and West Valencia Road when they made contact with an adult male subject who was trespassing. A records check showed that he had an active felony warrant from Pima County for narcotics possession. The warrant was confirmed and served. During a search, officers located drug paraphernalia on his person. He was booked into the Pima County Jail for trespassing, possession of drug paraphernalia, and his warrant.
Firearm Discharge Arrest
On August 31, 2025, ODS officers responded to a shots fired call in the 100 block of West Valencia Road. When officers arrived, there was no one at the scene; however, officers located 63 9mm cartridge casings on the property. The owner was contacted and provided surveillance video, which showed a grey Honda Accord driving through the property. The vehicle parked for a few minutes. Around 0512 hours, two occupants exited on the passenger side of the vehicle and fired straight up into the air. In the audio, you can hear what sounds like automatic fire, which indicates that a switch device had been installed. Several other people were seen running for cover.
Officers positively identified one suspect, who was seen shooting recklessly at the Honda as it was driving away – almost shooting one of his friends in the back. A vehicle passing by was struck, but no injuries were reported.
The firearm the identified suspect was using had a switch. A records check showed that this suspect had a felony conviction, was on probation, and was a prohibited possessor.
On September 5, 2025, ODS officers located the suspect and took him into custody. A search warrant was served on his home, where the clothing he was wearing during the incident was recovered. He was booked into the Pima County Jail for discharging a firearm in city limits, prohibited possessor, and prohibited weapon. This is still an ongoing investigation to identify multiple other shooters from the incident.
Stolen Vehicle and Drug Arrests
On September 7, 2025, ODS Officer Santos was conducting proactive policing when he located an occupied stolen vehicle in the 100 block of West Valencia Road. The vehicle attempted to evade him by pulling into an apartment complex, but was met by a dead end. The vehicle then went north on Missiondale and made a westbound turn onto Hatfield, stopping at an address in the 100 block of West Hatfield and dropping off a passenger. The officer had his red and blue emergency lights on and identified himself as a Tucson Police Officer over his PA system. The vehicle then fled west at a high rate of speed.
A short while later, it was found wrecked at Nogales and Olive and two passengers were seen leaving the car. The driver also fled but was ultimately detained. While officers were dealing with the two passengers who fled, Officer Santos contacted the passenger who was dropped off. He also attempted to flee but was stopped and detained after a brief foot pursuit. Search located a sales amount of methamphetamine (28 grams), one fentanyl pill, and fentanyl powder, which the passenger had attempted to discard while fleeing. He was booked into the Pima County Jail.
The driver was booked into the Pima County Jail for five different felonies: unlawful use of means of transportation, possession of a dangerous drug, possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, and burglary in the third degree.
Bike Traffic Stop Yields Subject With Felony Warrants
On September 10, 2025, ODS officers conducted a traffic stop on a male riding a bicycle in the area of Irvington and Liberty. The male fled from officers through El Pueblo Park and eventually made his way to a parking lot in the 4700 block of South 6th Avenue, where he was contacted and detained.
The male was positively identified, which led officers to discover two outstanding felony warrants for his arrest stemming from a 3rd degree burglary charge and a dangerous drug charge. He was also determined to be wanted out of Pima County, relating to 3rd degree burglary and narcotics charges.
PCSD Detectives were contacted and advised. The suspect’s warrants were confirmed, and he was transported and booked into the Pima County Jail.
Check Welfare Call Yields Fentanyl/Warrant Arrest
On September 12, 2025, ODS Sergeant Kerns and Lieutenant Hill responded to the 1600 block of East Tucson Marketplace for a check welfare call. Call text indicated that two males were pushing a shopping cart with an unresponsive person inside. Sgt. Kerns and Lt. Hill located the individuals at a convenience store in the 3500 block of South Kino Parkway.
Officers made contact with the person in the shopping cart, who was under the influence. A records check was conducted on one of the subjects who admitted to pushing the cart. It returned an active felony warrant. He was detained and then observed ditching a red container, which had over 100 blue M30 pills inside. Search located several pieces of foil with residue and straws. After receiving his Miranda warning, he admitted to purchasing the blues and was arrested for his warrant and for the M30s.
Bicycle Arrestee Assaults Officers
On September 17, 2025, ODS officers conducted a bicycle traffic stop in the area of East 22nd Street and South 4th Avenue. During the traffic stop, the adult male suspect attempted to flee, first on the bicycle and then on foot. While dismounting from the bicycle, he threw the bike at an officer, who tripped and sustained injury to his arm in the process.
The suspect was pursued and engaged with officers, attempting to reach multiple blades, brass knuckles, and other weapons at his waistband. As a last resort, the suspect grabbed an officer and attempted to wrench the officer's hand to avoid capture. Several strikes were delivered to the suspect in response to his active aggression. The suspect was detained with the assistance of additional officers.
Search incident to arrest revealed over 98 grams of M30 fentanyl pills, 10 grams of meth, and over $1,500 in various U.S. currency denominations.
The suspect was booked into the Pima County Jail for drug sales charges, aggravated assault, and resisting arrest. He was also cited for multiple civil traffic violations. A records check revealed a felony warrant for narcotics possession and DUI from Pinal County, which was served. Finally, he was charged for a burglary that occurred within the City of South Tucson.
