Unlawful Discharge Arrests
On August 7, 2025, officers responded to the 4300 block of South Valley Road in reference to several 911 calls reporting gunshots coming from a nearby wash. Officers deployed a drone to canvas the area. While officers were staging, additional gunshots were heard coming from the wash. Through drone video, officers observed a group of people run from the wash into a residence.
Officers contained the residence and called for the occupants to come out. Multiple subjects exited the residence and were detained. Officers located 47 9mm cartridge casings and 14 .300 blackout cartridge casings in the area the subjects had run from.
A search warrant was obtained and a 9mm handgun with an extended magazine was recovered inside the residence. Through investigation, it was learned that the group was hanging out near the wash and drinking alcohol. Witnesses identified two males with a pistol and an AR-style rifle who were shooting into the wash. It was reported that the AR-style rifle may have been placed in a vehicle that left the scene.
Officers located the vehicle at the residence of the girlfriend of one of the males. Upon speaking with the girlfriend, they located a backpack containing an AR-style rifle with .300 blackout ammunition.
After receiving Miranda warnings, two of the detainees admitted firing weapons in the wash. Both were booked into the Pima County Jail for unlawfully discharging firearms.
Bicycle Traffic Stop Yields Drug Sales, Felony Warrant Arrests
On August 8, 2025, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on an adult male riding a bicycle near South Canada Drive and South Santa Clara Avenue. The male immediately fled on the bicycle before ditching it in the front yard of a residence to flee on foot. Officers were able to catch the male and detain him. A records check was conducted, which returned an outstanding felony warrant stemming from a narcotics charge. During a custodial search of his person, sales amounts of meth (24.790 grams) and M30 pills (123) were in a satchel he was wearing, along with U.S. currency in different denominations. The male invoked his Miranda rights.
While still on scene, a female, identified as the male's girlfriend, contacted officers. A records check conducted on her also returned an outstanding felony warrant, stemming from a weapons offense (prohibited possessor). She was detained and her warrant was confirmed.
Both subjects were booked into the Pima County Jail. The male was booked on his felony warrant, dangerous drug sales, narcotics sales, and paraphernalia. The female was booked on her felony warrant.
Check Welfare Call Leads to Drug, Motor Vehicle Theft Charges
On August 8, 2025, officers responded to the 1900 block of West 36th Street for a check welfare on a slumped driver. The call text stated that there were two occupants in a Ford Explorer. A records check on the license plate showed that the plate was stolen. Officers contacted the driver and passenger.
The passenger had drug paraphernalia in plain view, with an additional 87 fentanyl pills found in their possession. The driver also had drug paraphernalia and approximately 72 fentanyl pills in a handbag in her possession.
A records check on the vehicle showed that the vehicle was stolen. That information was confirmed and the owner retrieved the vehicle at the scene.
The passenger was charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs and Drug Paraphernalia and had a felony warrant that was confirmed and served. The driver was charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs and Drug Paraphernalia, Theft of Means of Transportation, and 3rd Degree Burglary. Both were booked into the Pima County Jail.
Parking Dispute Leads to Firearm Arrest
On August 9, 2025, officers responded to Desert View High School in reference to an aggravated assault arising out of a dispute between two adult females over a parking spot at a youth football game. The victim approached the suspect’s vehicle “angrily,” which prompted the suspect to take a pistol out of her glovebox and point it at the victim to scare her away. The victim’s six children were in her vehicle behind her when the handgun was pointed at her. She went back to her vehicle, produced her own handgun, and held it at the low-ready position.
One of the victim’s children had a panic attack due to the gun pointing, which TFD responded to. The suspect explained that she had her daughter in the vehicle, and was scared. Both the suspect and the victim allowed officers to retrieve the firearms. The suspect was booked into the Pima County Jail for aggravated assault, misconduct involving weapons, and six counts of disorderly conduct with a weapon.
Car Wash Aggravated Robbery
On August 10, 2025, the victim arrived at a self-serve car wash in the 100 block of West Valenica Road at approximately 0400 hours. He pulled into a stall and was waiting for a friend to arrive. The victim was approached by multiple males who asked him for alcohol. He offered them an energy drink from his glove compartment. One of the males saw that the victim had a handgun in the open glove compartment, took it, and pointed it at the victim.
The victim's handgun was a black Springfield XD .40 caliber with an extended magazine. A second and third male then pointed their handguns at the victim. The victim asked for his weapon back, but they walked away with it. The victim left in his vehicle and reported the incident to police the next day. Video surveillance captured the incident.
Reviewing video of the incident, an officer noticed a very distinct tattoo on Suspect 2's (S2) right arm. The tattoo appeared to be a crown with a female's name. S2 then entered a red Buick Encore with the plate visible. The license plate led officers to the registered owner and the registered owner's 18-year-old son, who had a past criminal history involving weapons misconduct, as well as a matching tattoo.
On August 21, 2025, officers contacted S2 in a traffic stop. The vehicle he was in was driven by another male who was positively identified as one of the other two suspects. Both were placed under arrest for robbery and aggravated robbery. S2 was also found to be in possession of two handguns during this high-risk stop.
Fight Call Yields Firearm Arrest
On August 24, 2025, officers responded to the 1800 block of East Irvington Road in reference to a physical fight. The witness who called stated that one of the parties brandished a firearm. Officers arrived at the location and observed two males who matched the description given and detained them without incident.
One of the males was identified and a records check revealed that he was a prohibited possessor from a previous felony conviction. He also had a stop and arrest for a previous prohibited possessor case. Through the cooperation of a resident, the suspect's belongings were retrieved and searched. Search revealed a 2-shot pistol with the serial number defaced; a custom .300 blackout semi-automatic rifle with a collapsible stock; loaded 7.62 rifle magazines; 9mm magazines; several boxes of live pistol and rifle ammo; spent 10mm, .38 special, 7.62, and 5.7 (x20) shell casings; approximately 500+ fentanyl pills; Percocet pill bottles; baggies containing unknown substances; scales; and U.S. currency.
The suspect claimed ownership of all the items; his phone was also seized. Detectives from the Crime Gun Intelligence Unit and Counter Narcotics Alliance were advised and responded to the scene. The suspect was booked into the Pima County Jail on multiple charges.
