HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION
4000 BLOCK OF EAST MONTE VISTA DRIVE |

On July 25, 2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers from Operations Division Midtown responded to a residence in the 4000 block of East Monte Vista Drive regarding a check welfare. When officers arrived, they located the female resident deceased inside of the home. She has been identified as 74-year-old Sarane Elizabeth Lyons. Officers learned that Mrs. Lyons lived at the residence with her adult son, who was unaccounted for, and who had not been seen for several days. Crime Scene Unit responded, and detectives were notified due to suspicious circumstances. The adult son was not located and remained unaccounted for while this investigation evolved. On July 31, 2025, Mrs. Lyons’ son arrived at Tucson Police Department Headquarters to speak with officers about his involvement. He was interviewed by investigators, and probable cause was established to place him under arrest. He has been identified as 49-year-old Michael Andrei Lyons. Michael Lyons was charged with 2nd Degree Murder and booked into the Pima County Jail.
