ARSON INVESTIGATION AND ARREST 1365 WEST GRANT ROAD |

On July 20, 2025, the Tucson Fire Department and Tucson Police Department responded to and initiated a parallel arson investigation regarding a structure fire at the Grand Luxe Hotel, near Grant Road and Interstate 10. During the course of this investigation, police and fire investigators determined that a suspect entered the lobby of the hotel and appeared to intentionally set fire to the front desk employee area. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival. Witness statements and evidence were collected, to include video footage of the suspect and the incident.
TPD Explosives and Hazardous Device Detail (EHDD) Detectives and TFD Fire Investigators followed up on leads, and ultimately identified a suspect in this case. The suspect was located, taken into custody, and interviewed. The suspect has been identified as 34-year-old Cameron Michael Buell. Mr. Buell was booked into the Pima County Jail and charged with the following offenses:
- 1 count of Arson of an Occupied Structure
- 1 count of Criminal Damage
- 1 count of Criminal Endangerment
