PUBLIC MEETING THIS WEEK FOR PROJECT BLUE - Learn more about Project Blue during a community information meeting Wednesday, July 23, from 5-7 p.m., at Mica Mountain High School, 10800 E. Valencia Road. The parking lot for the meeting opens at 4:30 p.m. Do not arrive before that time. School is in session and students and faculty need to depart the lot before the meeting. Project Blue identified Tucson as a potential location for a data center due to its location near major markets, such as Phoenix, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas, making it a prime hub for interconnectivity between major population centers. The proposed site is a 290-acre parcel west of Houghton Road and north of Brekke Road (just north of the Pima County Fairgrounds). To learn more about the project, follow the links below. SPECIAL TUCSON POLICE DEPARTMENT TEAM BRINGS COMPASSIONATE RESPONSE TO PEOPLE IN A MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS (VIDEO) - The Tucson Police Department’s Mental Health Support Team (MHST) helps individuals and families navigate mental health challenges with safety, compassion, and dignity, while working to prevent harm and promote long-term stability. This specialized unit plays a critical role in connecting community members to vital resources, assisting those in crisis, and carrying out court-ordered mental health interventions. MHST works in close collaboration with other City departments, clinical professionals, and community partners to provide the highest level of support to those in need. TUCSON PARKS AND RECREATION HOSTS SUMMER TRACK AND FIELD COMPETITION TOMORROW - The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation department continues its annual summer track and field events in July, weather permitting. The cost is $3 per youth (17 years and younger) and $4 for adults (18 years and older). Track and field events are held Tuesdays, through July 29, at Drachman Stadium, 501 S. Plumer Ave. The next event will be held tomorrow, July 22. Registration begins at 6:30 p.m., and the meet begins at 7 p.m. Ribbons will be given to the top finishers at each track and field event. PUBLIC INVITED TO PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING - The monthly Tucson Parks and Recreation Commission (TPRC) meeting will be held Wednesday, July 23, from 3:30-5 p.m., at Tucson Parks and Recreation (Mesquite Room), 900 S. Randolph Way, and online (link below). This City of Tucson commission of citizens serves as an advisory panel to Tucson's Mayor and Council. Its role is to make recommendations regarding recreational activities and park facilities within the City of Tucson, operations policy and procedures, user fees, park development, and park name changes.
