CITY HOLIDAY CLOSURES TOMORROW: NO CHANGES TO TRASH AND RECYCLING COLLECTIONS - All City of Tucson offices, except for emergency services, will be closed tomorrow, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. All trash and recycling collections will remain on schedule, so make sure to roll out your bins as usual. The Los Reales Sustainability Campus and landfill services will be open tomorrow, and all public transportation will operate on Sunday schedules. The Sun Link streetcar will run 8 a.m.-8 p.m., with extended service 30 minutes after the “A” Mountain fireworks celebration. Environmental Services Sun Tran/Sun Link holiday schedules
CITY TO HOLD PRIMARY ELECTION NEXT MONTH - The City of Tucson will conduct its primary election on Tuesday, Aug. 5. Voters are encouraged to review key dates and location details (link below) to ensure their participation in this election. The Choice is Yours Publicity Pamphlet has been mailed to eligible registered voters in the City, and the last day to register is Monday, July 7. TUCSON CITY COURT HOLDS WARRANT QUASH EVENT NEXT WEEK - If you have a warrant in the City of Tucson, or think you have a warrant, you are invited to appear at Tucson City Court, 103 E. Alameda St., on Friday, July 11, to get your warrant quashed. If you make an appointment (preferred), your court case(s) will be referred in advance to the City Prosecutor's Office for review. If eligible, you may be able to have your case(s) resolved the same day. Appointments can be scheduled between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., but the deadline to make an appointment is Tuesday, July 8, by 5 p.m. Video appearances (Zoom) and walk-ins are also available. LOOP AREA COLLABORATIVE COMMUNITY RESPONSE DEPLOYMENT ENGAGES WITH UNSHELTERED INDIVIDUALS AND IMPROVES COMMUNITY SAFETY (VIDEO) - The Tucson Police Community Outreach Resource & Education (C.O.R.E.) Unit, in partnership with Pima County Justice Services Department and the Arizona Department of Public Safety, recently conducted a collaborative community response deployment along The Chuck Huckelberry Loop, in the 900 block of North Riverside Drive. The late May operation included City and County courts, the City’s Community Safety, Health & Wellness Program, Pretrial Services and the Transition Center, and several nonprofit partners. The deployment was designed to offer vital support services to the unsheltered population encamped along The Loop and address ongoing criminal behavior, making the community safer for all of us. ENJOY SUMMER SAFARI NIGHTS SERIES AT REID PARK ZOO - Beat the heat and explore the outdoors with Reid Park Zoo’s Summer Safari Nights on Friday and Saturday evenings, presented by TMC Health. Enjoy the Zoo in the cooler evening hours, featuring keeper chats, animal encounters, artifact stations, carousel rides, crafts, and games. Face painting and glitter tattoos will be available for purchase. Enjoy dinner and a cold drink at the Flamingo Grill and listen to live music by some of Tucson’s best bands. There is a different theme each week, so every visit brings something new. This weekend's theme is Stars & Stripes.
